Who should go?
The Anise is suited for travelers wanting all of the comforts of a modern hotel with the charm of a boutique hotel. Although not top-end luxury, the Anise is a nice, mid-range hotel with a fabulous central location. Families may find the rooms a bit small and there are several rooms without windows, however the overall ambience and friendly staff make up for these flaws.
When to go?
Hanoi is most pleasant from February to April and September to November. During these periods the temperatures are pleasant and the skies are clear. The winter months, December and January, can be very cold and rainy while May to August see temperatures soaring to the upper 30s (Celcius). It is recommended to avoid visiting the capital during Tet, the local New Year, which takes place in late January or early February. During Tet most restaurants and many tourist sites are close.
Where is it?
The Anise is located next to Hang Dau Park, north of Hanoi’s Old Quarter. Famous Hoan Kiem Lake is a twenty minute walk away and tourist sights such as the Temple of Literature can easily be reached on foot or by taxi.
What's not to be missed?
Visit nearby art galleries and cafes. Shop for bargains in the Old Quarter. Enjoy a steaming bowl of pho noodle soup at Anise’s restaurant. Attend a performance at Hanoi’s water puppet theater.
What's cooking?
The Zephyr’s restaurant serves delicious Vietnamese cuisine such as pho noodle soup as well as western dishes. The restaurant is open all day and room service is available. The Zephyr’s bar is located on the hotel’s top floor and offers panoramic views. It is a great place to observe the busy streets of Hanoi while sipping a refreshing beverage.
