Starting in Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, you will discover a city rooted in ancient traditions yet increasingly embracing modern lifestyles. A full day city tour introduces you to the country’s history with visits to Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoluem and his House on Stilts, the Temple of Literature and Tran Quoc Pagoda. Learn about Vietnam’s diverse ethnic groups at the Ethnology Musuem and capture the essence of local lifestyles with a walking tour through the Old Quarter.
Your Vietnam tour continues with an excursion to Halong Bay for an overnight cruise aboard a traditional wooden junk. You will be treated to exceptional service and dine on fresh seafood as the boat cruises among the thousands of limestone karsts. Stop to swim or kayak in the emerald waters, explore hidden caves and relax on the boat deck as the sun sets over the tranquil bay.
A short flight south takes you to Danang followed by a drive along the coast to Hoi An. Take a walking tour through the quiet ‘Old Town’ of Hoi An where the town’s history as a trading port is exposed through the unusual architecture and merchant homes that fill the streets.
Continue your Vietnam tour with a scenic drive north, over Hai Van Pass and through Lang Co fishing village as you make your way to Hue. A boat trip along the Perfume River introduces you to the former imperial capital, passing monuments and tree-line riverbanks en route to Thien Mu Pagoda. After touring the Imperial Citadel, relax with a cyclo ride for a glimpse of local life and travel through the countryside to visit the mausoleums of former emperors.
After the tranquility of the central region, fly to vibrant Ho Chi Minh City and tour the historic and cultural highlights including the Presidential Palace and War Remnants Museum. The Vietnam tour ends with a day trip to the Mekong Delta, where a cruise takes you past the colorful floating market, vast emerald rice fields and lush back waterways of Cai Be.
